Is this the END of non-featured servers?
BedrockMicrosoft getting rid of non-featured servers
So recently Microsoft made the decision to get rid of non-featured servers, as it probably wasn't making enough money for the company. Although this sounds like a minor issue, it’s actually impactful for the servers that had so much potential, like Aeris and Zeqa. Especially to the owners, developers and staff, who gave so much creative energy and screen-time into the project.
Take Aeris, for example, who's owner Icynutella spend a lot of time promoting the server, on Youtube short and videos gaining a lot of attraction. This lead to many people believing Aeris had high potential of reaching the featured server list as one of the top Minecraft PvP servers. However, due to Microsoft's decision, the effort the Aeris staff put in, is wasted. Since they sold their server to another company called InPvP, who already owns a couple of featured server lists, inorder for it to survive.
This case is very similar to another server called Zeqa. It was highly regarded as one of the best Minecraft non-featured server, known to be the best server for PvP practice. Many people including myself believed, it had potential to reach the official Minecraft featured server-list, as it was averaging 450 players on weekends. This had a higher player count than other Minecraft featured servers, such as Mineville and Enchanted Dragons.
According to the owner of InPvP, the two servers Aeris and Zeqa would be merged together to reach its full potential. So in conclusion it’s sad to see these non-featured servers go, as they had so much potential. However, I'm optimistically curious to see what Microsoft and InPvP do next!
